Precautions during the Covid-19 lockdown to see emergency patients
The outbreaks of Covid-19 pandemic have changed our lives over the past year. We have been through countless cycles of lockdowns, big and small. During this difficult time, it is important that you do not delay your dental treatments especially if you need urgent dental care.
We are an emergency dentist in Bulleen, still open during this difficult time to serve your oral health needs. Not only are we open but are also abiding by the Victorian Dental Health regulatory guidelines and complying with the requirements of the Australian Dental Association as well as the Practitioner Board. In compliance, we are taking all the precautionary measures to limit the transmission of the virus along with providing you a completely safe and secure visit to the dentist.
We have a COVDsafe plan in place at both Bulleen and Forest Hill locations to ensure that the risk of transmitting the virus is minimal.
Our qualified team makes sure prior to booking appointments to properly screen patients to check if they have:
– Visited any Victorian exposure site within the past fourteen days
– Been in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case within the past fourteen days
– Travelled overseas or interstate in the past fourteen days
– Experienced any Covid-19 symptoms such as sore throat, fever, or shortness of breath
We re-check these criteria upon patients’ arrival to the clinic, make sure they check-in through the displayed QR codes and sanitize their hands. Social distancing decals on the floor and information signs further help with the precautionary measures to ensure safety for all patients. We abide to the government laws and enforce wearing a mask at all times in the clinic.
Moreover, we have made sure to remove all the reading materials, toys, and water stations to avoid any cross-contamination. The infection control measures previously in place have been made stringent to include the disinfection of door handles, EFTPOS machines, pens, reception, and patient waiting room area. We take infection control very seriously, and especially during this time, we have made sure that all staff and employees are well informed and trained for maintaining high standards of infection control.
We use personal protective equipment, like gloves, masks, gowns, face shields, eye protection and protective footwear to ensure the safety of all personnel in the clinic. After each patient visit our trained staff makes sure all potential touchpoints and non-clinical areas are thoroughly disinfected. We use fresh sterile instrument packs for each patient which gets thoroughly washed, disinfected and steam sterilised after every use.
As a COVIDsafe dental clinic we have taken all the necessary precautions to ensure all our patients feel safe to visit their dentists in an emergency or otherwise. It is extremely important not to succumb to the risk of infection as broken teeth and deep tooth decay can easily worsen over time. So, if you are looking for an emergency dentist in Bulleen or Forest Hill, we look forward to helping you with your dental needs in a safe and secure environment!
