The Art of Brushing

Brushing your teeth is an important part of your dental routine. Every time you go to a dentist, the first thing they will ask is about your dental hygiene routine and you always want to impress them.  These tips for brushing will make sure that smile is always perfect for the whole year.

Choose the right toothbrush

Most dentists agree that a soft-bristle brush is best for removing plaque and debris from your teeth. However small-headed brushes are also preferable, since they can better reach all areas of the mouth including back teeth. While choosing a toothbrush, take a note how sensitive your tooth are and always try to pick the comfortable one. Make sure you replace your tooth brush every 3 months.

 Pick the right tooth paste

Today there is a wide range of toothpaste available in market, designed for different conditions, including cavities, gingivitis, tartar and sensitivity so it is very important that you pick the right one for you. Ask your dentist which toothpaste is right for you.

 Use the proper brushing technique

  • Place your toothbrush at a 45- degree angle to the gums
  • Gently move the brush back and forth in short (tooth-wide) strokes
  • Brush the outer surfaces, the inner surfaces, and the chewing surfaces of the teeth
  • To clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and-down strokes
